WH & WN: The Super Bowl
Don't be mad, but I didn't watch the whole thing
HOT:
The 49ers in the first half - A true fumbling of the ball on the Bay Area football team’s part. I was rooting for them, but the second half showed the Chief’s coming back in full force and eventually winning, as I’m sure we have all heard.
Ice Spice not knowing Football - Perpetually confused and unbothered, but here for a good time. Same, girl.
Beyoncé dropping two country songs: 16 Carriages & Texas Hold ‘Em - Seems like a lot of singer/songwriters are branching into Country music, Beyoncé being the first to drop her twist on a country song. Country music coming from Lana del Ray and Post Malone next! Maybe I’ll finally become a country music listener.
Usher’s range and special guests - Some people were confused how Usher got this gig, but as he showed us (I knew all along), Usher has so many hits throughout his 20+ year career. He started intimate and slow with Alicia Keys (who slayed in her red bedazzled jumpsuit) and moved into a theatrical roller-skating number featuring Ludacris, H.E.R., Lil Jon, will.i.am, and Jermaine Dupri.
NOT:
News about Swift & Kelce relationship - I’m happy for them and all, but I’m sorry, I’m over the news coverage. We gotta move on —unless they get married, then oh boy are we in for it. I almost expected an adrenaline-induced proposal from Kelce when he won.
Justin Beiber not making an appearance at the half-time show - Deux Moi said he had a dressing room at the Superbowl, but failed to show up to rehearsals? I was looking forward to a potential Somebody to Love performance last night, alas he didn’t pull through.
The commercials: Usually a big feature of Super Bowl Sunday, they flopped. My main takeaways were that e.l.f. had the best commercial with Judge Judy x Suits crossover and Jesus is making a comeback with some pretty weird commercials.
