Hot:
Jeromy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri’s wins (The Bear) - I’ve watched JAW in his Shameless days and have loved him since. He plays a superb brooding young male with the odds stacked against him yet has enormous potential. Edebiri is a newer admiration of mine. I particularly liked her in Bottoms, thought she was the best part, and I’d love to be her friend.
Female Friendship - I’d say this was a big winner of the night. Barbie rightfully won Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award last night. Emma Stone (shoutout XCP connection) won Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture, a slay, and JLaw and Tswift reacted. Love all the girlies
Not:
Jo Koy as the host - Known to me as a comedian, but more importantly Chelsea Handler’s ex, Jo Koy became just another man telling misogynistic quotes on stage on live television. Many people have said online, and I agree, the hosts should have been Kristen Wig and Will Ferrell. They were the only funny part, besides Jennifer Lawrence ofc.
The Bear categorized under comedy/musical: I have not seen much of The Bear, only the first and last episode of season 1–criminal, I know, I’m planning on filling in on the gaps— but from what I have seen, it is most certainly a drama, not a comedy, and most certainly not a musical. It evokes anxiety. What I do not disagree with, is their accolades—see Hot list.
